Storz Medical Acoustic Wave Therapy™ — cellulite therapy and body contouring
Radial acoustic wave therapy delivers high-frequency vibration energy deep into the tissue, loosens fibrous tissue, stimulates microcirculation and reduces the visibility of cellulite. It was the first effective method in aesthetic medicine for treating cellulite and skin fibrosis with long-lasting results.
Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy — radial AWT therapy
Storz Medical™ radial acoustic wave therapy involves delivering energy in the form of high-frequency vibrations directly deep into the tissue being treated. The acoustic wave stimulates microcirculation within the connective tissue and fat cells and helps address metabolic issues, reducing the signs of cellulite. It's also an effective way to contour the body by reducing body circumference.
Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) was the first effective method in the history of aesthetic medicine for treating cellulite and skin fibrosis with long-lasting results — it remains popular today, both as a standalone treatment and combined with other body-contouring treatments. The therapy is quick, painless and delivers measurable results.

Where acoustic wave therapy comes from
The concept of extracorporeal shockwave generation emerged in the late 1960s — originally for the non-contact fragmentation of kidney stones. The Storz Medical device was developed to bring shockwave technology to aesthetic medicine, with particular focus on anti-cellulite therapies. When fat reduction matters alongside cellulite, it's worth considering Onda Coolwaves or Cooltech cryolipolysis; for contouring massage and drainage — Icoone Med or Alliance Endermologie. We put together a full course of treatment in our body programmes.
Acoustic wave therapy in numbers

What happens in the skin during AWT therapy
D-Actor handpiece
Radial therapy: high-energy acoustic waves penetrate the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue, loosening fibrous tissue.
V-Actor handpiece
Vibration therapy: stimulates metabolism, improves lymph flow and the removal of metabolic waste products, reinforcing the effect of the acoustic wave.
Breakdown and drainage
The wave increases the permeability of fat cell membranes — they break down into free fatty acids and glycerol, which are removed by the lymphatic and circulatory systems.
In cellulite, the acoustic wave loosens stiff connective tissue, improves circulation and reduces the size of fat cells, so the skin regains firmness and the "orange-peel" texture is smoothed out. It's worth making use of the extra energy released from fat cells through physical activity, a balanced diet and drinking plenty of fluids.
Indications for Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy
What Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy helps with
We use this treatment for 2 indications. It works a little differently for each — below we describe exactly what it does in each case.
Stubborn fat
Acoustic wave therapy doesn't remove fat on its own — it breaks down fibrous tissue and improves microcirculation, which makes fat-reduction methods work more effectively. We use it as a support treatment, not a standalone therapy.
02Cellulite
High-frequency vibrations break down fibrous tissue — exactly what creates hard, stubborn fibrous cellulite. It's the most targeted response to this type.

The research directions below concern extracorporeal acoustic/shockwave therapy (AWT / extracorporeal shockwave) in treating cellulite and body contouring — the mechanism used in the Storz Medical device.
Focused shockwave and cellulite
Randomised studies on focused shockwave therapy in non-invasive body contouring describe improvements in the appearance of cellulite and skin firmness.
Knobloch et al., 2013 · PubMed →Acoustic wave therapy in body contouring
Research on acoustic wave therapy (AWT) points to reduced circumference and improved skin structure in body contouring.
Nassar et al., 2015 · PubMed →Measuring skin elasticity after AWT
Prospective, controlled studies on acoustic wave therapy for cellulite report a measurable improvement in the skin's mechanical parameters lasting more than six months.
Knobloch et al., 2010 · PubMed →The links lead to PubMed searches for the given technology. Exact publication identifiers (PMID) require live confirmation before publication — the PubMed database was unavailable during this session. The cited studies concern the CLASS of technology, not a specific device brand; results vary between individuals, and the specialist determines the number and scope of treatments.
How acoustic wave therapy works, step by step
Before the treatment, a detailed health questionnaire is carried out to rule out contraindications. The patient lies down, and a gel that conducts the wave energy deep into the skin is applied to the treatment area, giving a pleasant cooling sensation. In the first part, the D-Actor handpiece is moved over the skin according to the therapeutic programme; in the second, the V-Actor handpiece performs a vibration massage for lymphatic drainage. The treatment is painless and feels like an intense massage.

Conducting gel
Preparing the skin with a cooling gel application.
D-Actor acoustic wave
Applying the radial wave according to the therapeutic programme.
V-Actor drainage
Vibration massage that reinforces the effect and supports the lymphatic system.
Aftercare recommendations — Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy
The therapy requires no downtime. To reinforce the fat breakdown and removal triggered by the wave, it helps to support it with lifestyle habits between sessions.
Drink plenty of water
Staying hydrated supports the removal of metabolic waste products by the lymphatic system.
Stay active
Physical activity helps "burn off" the energy released from fat cells.
A balanced diet
A light diet supports the body-contouring and cellulite-reducing effect.
Keep to the course schedule
A full course is 6–10 sessions, twice a week (every 3–5 days).
Maintenance plan
After the course, the effect lasts more than six months; your specialist determines any follow-up sessions.

Frequently asked questions — Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy
What is the Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy treatment?
It's a radial acoustic shockwave therapy (AWT). High-frequency vibration energy penetrates deep into the tissue, loosens fibrous tissue, stimulates microcirculation and reduces the size of fat cells. The result is reduced cellulite, firmer skin and body contouring through a reduction in body circumference.
Does acoustic wave therapy help with cellulite?
Yes — AWT was the first effective method for treating cellulite and skin fibrosis in aesthetic medicine. It works especially well for fibrous cellulite. The wave loosens stiff connective tissue and improves circulation, smoothing out the "orange-peel" texture, with the effect lasting more than six months.
Does the acoustic wave treatment hurt?
No. The treatment is painless and feels like an intense massage. A cooling conducting gel is applied to the skin, and you can return to your daily activities right after the therapy — with no downtime or recovery needed.
How many acoustic wave sessions are needed?
Depending on how advanced the cellulite is, a full course is usually 6–10 sessions performed twice a week (every 3–5 days). The therapy continues until a satisfactory result is reached — at any stage, it can be concluded or extended with further sessions.
How does acoustic wave therapy differ from Icoone and Onda?
Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy works with shockwaves (AWT) and is powerful against fibrous cellulite and tissue fibrosis. Icoone is a vacuum massage (drainage, contouring), Onda uses microwaves to reduce fat, and Cooltech freezes fat cells. The best results often come from a combination of methods chosen by your specialist.
How much does Storz Medical acoustic wave therapy cost in Warsaw?
The price starts from 300 zł and depends on the area and the number of sessions in the course. We work out the exact price and therapy plan together at your consultation. You can book a consultation online or by phone.
